Introduction to U.S. FCC Certification
The FCC, or the Federal Communications Commission, is directly accountable to Congress. It coordinates domestic and international communications by regulating radio broadcasting, television, telecommunications, satellite, and cable services, and it is responsible for licensing and overseeing radio‑frequency transmission devices and equipment, except those used by the federal government.
According to the relevant provisions of the U.S. Federal Communications Regulations (47 CFR), all electronic products entering the United States are required to undergo electromagnetic compatibility certification. FCC certification At present, the United States has been China’s second-largest trading partner for several consecutive years, and Sino‑U.S. trade volume has been steadily increasing year after year. Consequently, exports to the U.S. should not be underestimated. The U.S. boasts some of the world’s most stringent product‑technical standards and import regulations; gaining a thorough understanding of U.S. market‑access requirements will help Chinese products further penetrate the U.S. market.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulates the importation and use of radio‑frequency devices, including computers, fax machines, electronic equipment, radio receiving and transmitting devices, radio‑controlled toys, telephones, personal computers, and other products that may pose a risk to human safety. To be exported to the United States, these products must undergo testing and certification by government‑authorized laboratories in accordance with FCC technical standards. Importers and customs brokers are required to declare that each radio‑frequency device complies with FCC standards, thereby obtaining an FCC license.
