Conflict Minerals Policy Statement

发布时间:2021-08-06

I: Conflict Minerals
The mining of tin, tungsten, tantalum, iron ore, and gold—among other rare metals—in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and in neighboring countries and regions has given rise to grave human rights and environmental concerns. Much of the mining activity in these areas is linked to, or financed by, armed groups involved in conflict, contributing to chronic instability; for this reason, these minerals are referred to as “conflict minerals.”
II: SOY Policy
1. SOY does not accept materials that contain or incorporate “conflict minerals” originating from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and its neighboring countries and regions.
2. SOY will trace the origins of tin, tungsten, tantalum, and gold contained in its products.
3. Supplier Requirements
1. Comply with the conflict minerals policy and extend it throughout the supply chain.
2. Ensure that the product does not contain “conflict minerals” sourced from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and its neighboring countries and regions.
3. Actively and truthfully complete the EICC‑compliant conflict minerals questionnaire, ensuring that all smelters involved are listed on the EICC’s published roster of compliant smelters.
